Customs Officers of the border crossing point Bogorodica yesterday seized 144 kg Marijuana.
On 12th April 2017, a truck and trailer with foreign license plates, driven by a Bulgarian citizen was stopped at the border crossing point Bogorodica - exit section. When the suspect arrived at the border crossing point, he told the customs officers that there was nothing to declare and that the vehicle was empty. Since the customs officers suspected his statement, they proceeded to detailed inspection of the vehicle. During the inspection, inside the boards of the trailer, the customs officers noticed that they were filled with marijuana. The total quantity of the seized marijuana is 144 kg.
The investigation is still ongoing and evidence is being collected. The Customs Administration brought criminal charges against the suspect for "unauthorized manufacture and sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors".
